How to Automate FactoryLogix
FactoryLogix is the MES from Aegis Software, and it automates the inside of an electronics plant: process definition, operator instructions, machine and material data, scheduling and quality records. Parts availability, engineering change notices and customer procurement portals sit outside it, on other companies' websites, where an agent like WebRun does the reading.
The design belongs to the customer, the evidence belongs to the plant
FactoryLogix is the manufacturing execution system built by Aegis Software, which has been writing software for electronics assembly since 1997 and passed to an affiliate of Peak Rock Capital in 2025. It runs plants in aerospace and defence, automotive, consumer goods, industrial and medical devices.
Most of those plants are building somebody else's product. A contract assembler takes a customer's bill of materials, a customer's approved vendor list and a customer's drawing, and turns them into a board on a line that ran something different last week.
So the record-keeping is heavier than the engineering. FactoryLogix holds the process definition, the work instructions the operator reads off the screen, what came off each machine, which reel fed which feeder, and the quality evidence tying all of it to a serial number. That evidence is half of what an assembler sells.
The line waits on one part with a twelve-week lead time
None of that says whether the parts are coming.
An electronics build fails on one line item. Forty-nine parts are in the stores and the fiftieth is a controller on allocation, and the job does not run. So the first hour of somebody's day goes on distributor sites: stock checked against the approved vendor list, a lead time that moved from six weeks to twenty-two, a hunt for an alternate the customer's list will actually allow.
Then the customer's procurement portal, because that is where a revised purchase order appears, and where a pull-in or a push-out of next quarter's forecast gets posted with no email attached. Then a manufacturer's page, to see whether last month's product change notice touches a part still live on an active build.
Then FactoryLogix, to move the schedule to match what was just learned.
Adaptive Planning schedules against the reels on the shelf
Inside the four walls FactoryLogix does the job thoroughly, and a plant that has not switched all of it on should start there.
Digital Manufacturing Engineering turns a customer's data package into an executable process, so one bill of materials drives the work instructions, the machine programs and the material calls. Adaptive Planning is a live schedule board: jobs are dragged onto it, duration is calculated, material is reserved, and machine availability problems, schedule overruns and material shortages come back with substitute parts suggested. Lean Materials Management pulls material to the line against real consumption and spoilage instead of pushing oversized kits at it, watches material lifecycle and expiry, and keeps a traceable identity on each individual material. The Quality Management System carries embedded SPC, non-conformance handling, CAPA and traceability that runs forwards and backwards.
Every one of those reasons from what the factory holds and what it has been told.
The part that stops next month's build is not in the building yet. It is a stock figure on a distributor's site, a lead time on a manufacturer's page, and a revision posted to a portal only a person can open.
Every line on the approved vendor list has a page somebody can read
Everything a buyer spends the morning finding out is already published. It sits on other companies' websites, in whatever shape those companies chose, behind logins your team already holds.
Stock and lead time for every approved part read each morning from the distributors you actually buy from and set against the builds those parts feed, so twenty-two weeks is a purchasing decision in August rather than a stopped line in October. Product change and end-of-life notices watched on the manufacturer's own site and matched to parts still live on an approved vendor list.
Customer procurement portals checked for the things nobody sends: a revised purchase order, a pulled-in delivery date, a new drawing revision, a request for quote that expires quietly. Inbound reels followed to your own dock, so a kit is known to be short the day the freight slips rather than the day the line calls for it. Certificates of conformance gathered from each supplier's site and filed against the job before a customer's quality clause asks for them.
Part numbers do not need a human to look them up
Each of those is a person signing into a website, reading one field and writing it somewhere else. It is an hour a day, and it is the hour a buyer needs for the negotiation that actually moves a cost.

Questions people ask
Can it write shortages back into FactoryLogix?
It can be pointed at a field, but the default is a read. It gathers what the distributors, manufacturers and customer portals say and hands you the list against the work orders affected. Changing a work order or a bill of materials is a change to a controlled record, so a person makes it.
Half our customer portals have nothing to download. Does that stop it?
No, and that case is the reason for working this way. The portal is read the way your buyer reads it, in a browser, so a customer site with no integration and no export button is handled the same as one that has both. What comes back is a list in your shape.
We build to AS9100D and ISO 13485. Does an agent put that at risk?
Not if it stays on the gathering side. It signs in as your own user with the access that user already has, it works inside an allowlist of sites you set, and every run can be watched and stopped. It does not sign, approve or release anything.
