Triage positive culture alerts the moment they result

Every 15 minutes, WebRun checks ICNet for newly resulted positive cultures, captures the organism, specimen source, unit, and bed for each, posts a triage alert to the Infection Prevention Teams channel, and texts the on-call preventionist by Twilio for alert-organism or blood culture results so nothing waits for the next shift huddle.

In short

How do I get notified the moment a positive culture results in ICNet?

WebRun checks ICNet every 15 minutes for newly resulted positive cultures, captures the organism, source, unit, and bed, and posts a triage alert to Microsoft Teams. For alert-organism or blood culture results, it also texts the on-call preventionist by Twilio, so triage starts within minutes instead of waiting for the next shift huddle.

  • Alert-organism cultures reach the on-call preventionist within 15 minutes of resulting
  • IP staff see every new positive culture in one Teams feed instead of hunting through ICNet
  • Routine results stay off the pager, only alert-organism and blood cultures trigger a text

Done when The on-call preventionist has been texted for every urgent result within minutes of it posting.

Questions, answered

Does WebRun decide how to treat a positive culture?

No. It only flags the result and alerts the on-call preventionist. It never orders treatment or isolation, and it never interprets the result clinically, that judgment always stays with your IP and medical team.

Does the text message include the patient's name?

No. The Twilio page includes only the unit, bed, and organism so the on-call preventionist can act fast. Full patient detail stays inside ICNet's access-controlled record.

What if a result has already been reviewed?

It reads ICNet's live review status at every check, so any culture already marked reviewed is skipped and will not trigger a duplicate alert.
