Turn scrap sheet into reusable inventory

Every morning, WebRun opens SigmaNEST, pulls the remnants left over from the prior day's nests, logs each one's size, gauge, material, and location to Google Sheets, and posts a Slack alert whenever an existing remnant can cover a job queued for nesting today instead of a new full sheet.

In short

How do I track and reuse sheet metal remnants from SigmaNEST nesting?

WebRun checks SigmaNEST every morning for remnants left over from the prior day's nests and logs each one's material, gauge, dimensions, and location to Google Sheets. Whenever a remnant on hand can cover a job already queued for nesting, it posts a Slack alert, turning drop sheet that would normally sit forgotten into tracked, reusable inventory.

  • Usable remnants get matched to jobs instead of sitting forgotten
  • Material spend drops as more jobs pull from remnant stock first
  • Remnant location and size are tracked without a manual walk of the rack

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.sigmanest.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
SigmaNEST - pull new remnants from completed nests
    sigmanest.com How to Automate SigmaNEST
WebRun in SigmaNEST: pull new remnants from completed nests
WebRun opens SigmaNEST to pull new remnants from completed nests.
    • Open SigmaNEST and review remnants generated by the prior day's completed nests
    • Capture material, gauge, dimensions, and remaining usable area for each remnant
    • Compare each remnant against material requirements for jobs queued for nesting today

Done when Every new remnant is captured and checked against today's queued jobs.

  3. 2
Google Sheets - log remnant size, gauge, and location

WebRun in Google Sheets: log remnant size, gauge, and location
WebRun opens Google Sheets to log remnant size, gauge, and location.
    • Open the Remnant Inventory spreadsheet
    • Add a row per new remnant with material, gauge, dimensions, and storage location
    • Mark any remnant used by a matched job as reserved

Done when The remnant inventory sheet reflects every remnant on hand and its status.

  4. 3
Slack - alert when a remnant matches a queued job
    slack.com How to Automate Slack
WebRun in Slack: alert when a remnant matches a queued job
WebRun opens Slack to alert when a remnant matches a queued job.
    • Post an alert when a remnant on hand can cover a queued job's material need
    • Include the remnant's location and the job number it could serve
    • Skip posting on days with no usable matches

Done when The team has been alerted to every remnant that can replace a full sheet today.

Questions, answered

Will it pull a remnant and reserve it without asking?

No. WebRun only flags a possible match in Slack. A programmer still decides whether to nest the job against that remnant in SigmaNEST.

How does it know a remnant is still usable?

It reads the dimensions and material SigmaNEST recorded when the remnant was generated, then compares them against the material requirements of jobs still queued for nesting.

What happens to remnants that never get used?

They stay logged in the Google Sheet with their location, so they remain visible and searchable instead of getting scrapped or forgotten in a rack.

Put this on autopilot.
