How do I calculate cheese shrink from cut weight and sales automatically?
WebRun compares your cut cheese against your sales every Monday. It reads the weight cut and received in ShelfPerks, pulls the weight actually sold from Square, computes the shrink gap per cheese, values it in dollars, and logs a ranked variance report to Google Sheets, so you see exactly where product is disappearing.
- The biggest weekly shrink shows up ranked in dollars, not guesswork
- Cut versus sold weight is reconciled every single week
- Unmatched items are surfaced once so mapping stays clean
Built for cheese shop owners · specialty food retailers · deli managers · grocery cheese buyers

1
ShelfPerks - read weight cut and received
WebRun opens ShelfPerks to read weight cut and received. - Open ShelfPerks and go to the weight-based inventory view
- Read the total weight cut and weight received for each cheese over the past week
- Capture the opening and closing weight on hand per item
- Note the unit cost per pound so shrink can be valued in dollars
Done when Every weight-based cheese has its cut, received, and on-hand weight captured for the week.
-
2
Square - read weight actually sold
WebRun opens Square to read weight actually sold. - Open Square and pull the item sales report for the same week
- Read the weight sold for each weight-priced cheese at the counter
- Match each Square item to its ShelfPerks cheese by name or SKU
- Total the weight sold per matched item
Done when Each cheese has its weight sold in Square matched to its ShelfPerks record.
-
3
Google Sheets - log the shrink variance report
WebRun opens Google Sheets to log the shrink variance report. - Open the Cheese Shrink Report sheet
- For each cheese, compute expected weight sold from opening plus received minus closing, then subtract the weight Square actually sold to get the shrink gap
- Value each gap in dollars using the unit cost per pound
- Sort the rows by dollar shrink, largest first, and add the weekly total
Done when The report sheet shows this week's shrink per cheese, ranked by dollar loss.

Questions, answered
Does it change any inventory counts in ShelfPerks or Square?
No. WebRun only reads from ShelfPerks and Square and writes the results to your own Google Sheet. It never edits stock counts or prices in either system, so nothing is altered on your behalf.
How does it match a Square item to a ShelfPerks cheese?
By SKU first, then by item name when no SKU is set. Any item it cannot confidently match is listed separately in the sheet so you can map it once and it sticks.
What counts as shrink here?
Shrink is the gap between the weight that should have sold and the weight Square recorded as sold. It captures rind loss, cutting waste, sampling, and theft together, valued in dollars so the biggest leaks stand out.
